I usually also close a number of duplicates, but some of these are distinct and should be reopened imo. Writing secure Smart Contracts in Solidity? is a community wiki and I think it should be allowed and would be very helpful for the community; not all list/resource type of questions are bad. How was the recursion created that lead to theDAO hack? is ...

It looks to me that this was a good-faith attempt to clarify the question according to what the original poster meant to ask. Personally, I agree with the editor that this question is asking how to set msg.sender in a local call, not a transaction. The addition of "MyCrypto" does substantially broaden the scope and should not have been included. Without the ...

Unless those questions are deemed off topic on those other sites, we have no cause to remove content from another site and the reputation/ownership that goes with it. Besides, the wholesale importing of content from elsewhere is not really a great way to build a new site. Questions imported from elsewhere would likely be orphaned if the author does not have ...

No, that's not a good idea. There are some issues with that suggestion: You can't "pull them in", they have to be pushed over by the other site. Once they have been on the site for a while they get "too old to migrate". It is deprecated to ask identical questions on several sites. Many sites don't consider beta sites as valid targets for migration. ...

"leads to an opinionate outcome" should not be a waiver for closing everything. It means two things: (1) there is no final objective outcome and answers could be only subjective, (2) there is a final outcome but the community is strongly opinionated and passionated about it, so I don't want to have the hassle as a moderator and OMG politics. Clearly only (1) ...

This is an interesting question. Obviously when I made the post in question I was not sure that it was in fact a bug. I think it is still useful to allow possible bug questions because StackExchange gives more visibility to our potential developer community. I would say that once confirmed, a link to the bug tracker should be added, and the question ...

The helpdesk email is no longer active at the foundation. It was not meant to stay open as long as it has. We are currently resolving the final few emails that have come in over the last 6 months. This seems within the realm of reason, and I'd cautiously say "yes." I could see it being relevant for software architectural reasons--picture, a year or two in the future, some country saying that income to a DAO is income to the token holders. This would be important to know! That said, this is ignoring whether it'd be some source of liability--does ...

No. From our off topic close reasons: "Questions asking us to recommend or find a book, tool, software library, tutorial or other off-site resource are off-topic for Stack Exchange as they tend to attract opinionated answers and spam. Instead, describe the problem and what has been done so far to solve it." I closed that thread.

Since all relevant information for learning Ethereum should be freely available on line, questions looking for particularly good free and online sources of material should be on topic. I personally love when stackexchange is able to not only answer a question but provide a somewhat curated index to more reading materials.

I always thought of StackExchange as a unopinionated Q&A site. That means one is encouraged to formulate a rather objective question of general interest, instead of subjective or helpdesk support questions. Not "Do you think PoS is a good thing?" or "Help, I lost my wallet in Mist". Generalistic, precise and objective questions gravitate towards one ...

I think we should allow most such questions. It is usually not clear if it is indeed a bug. Now if it's written as a bug report, which oftentimes don't even pose a question but just a list of assertions, then I think we can answer with a link to the appropriate bug tracker. Obviously, if a particular user keeps doing this, using SE for bug reports instead ...
